Laurus
Travel specializes in quality small-group tours to China operating out of
offices in Vancouver and Beijing. Over the past 12 years many thousands of
customers from around the world have travelled with us to this fascinating
land that is undergoing rapid change. Our in-depth China tours feature
upscale accommodations and outstanding guides well versed in both Chinese
and Western cultures. A China tour with Laurus Travel is unlike any other;
it is an authentic and unique experience filled with fun and learning,
delivered by a team of caring, competent and knowledgeable professionals.
Incorporated in the Province of British Columbia,
the China tour company was founded in 1998 by Heidi Li and Julius Yan.
Heidi holds a BA in journalism and an MBA from
Richard Ivey School of
Business at the University of Western Ontario. Her work experience
spans North America, Asia and Oceania.
Julius has 25 years of experience in the travel
industry including 8 years as an English-speaking tour guide in China. In
1992 he was rated one of the top guides by China's largest travel agency
chain during its first ever nationwide tour guide competition. He spent
his last three years with his Chinese employer managing the company's
inbound business from Canada and the United States, a position that
allowed him to hone his managerial, guide training and marketing skills.
Prior to co-founding Laurus Travel he worked in sales for three years at
the travel insurance division of
RBC Insurance,
Canada's leader in travel insurance. He left RBC Insurance as team leader
of the company's Vancouver airport operations.
Laurus Travel is the only Canadian China tour
operator recommended in every edition of Frommer's China guidebooks (Frommer's
China, Frommer's Beijing, Frommer's Shanghai). We are fully licensed and
bonded. All of our customers are protected by the
BC Travel Assurance Fund irrespective of their province or country of
residence. Our long-standing membership and impeccable record with the
Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the
Association of Canadian
Travel Agencies (ACTA) affirm our commitment to the highest standards
