Hangzhou Tour
Day 1: Arrival in Hangzhou
Meet your guide on
arrival. Transfer to the hotel of your choice. Activities may be scheduled
for today depending on your time of arrival and whether you'd need time to
recover from jet lag.
Hangzhou was founded about 2,200 years ago during
the Qin Dynasty. It is listed as one of the Eight Ancient Capitals of China,
together with Beijing, Nanjing, Xi'an, Luoyang, Kaifeng, Anyang and
Zhengzhou. The city is at the southern end of China's
Grand Canal which
extends to Beijing. Over the centuries, Hangzhou has often been referred to
as "Paradise on Earth" by China's intelligentsia due to its awe-inspiring
landscape.
Day 2: Hangzhou
This morning we enjoy a refreshing cruise on serene West Lake, which is
followed by a visit to the Silk Museum. Afternoon sightseeing introduces us
to Six Harmony Pagoda and Longjing Team Plantation where the much prized
Chinese green tea is produced.
Day 3: Hangzhou
Today is a free day to explore on your own. You may consider hiring our
guide and driver for a half-day excursion to
Wuzhen,
about one hour drive from Hangzhou. The 12-century-old water town boasts
many well-preserved ancient residential and commercial buildings. (B)
