Assistant General Manager

Position Overview
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for supporting the General
Manager in organizing and directing the daily operations of the company
with a focus on customer service. After two years of successful
employment, the Assistant General Manager can expect a promotion
accompanied with a major pay raise.
qualifications Required
Experience
The applicant must have at least 5 consecutive years of success managing
an IATA agency where current annual sales exceed $5 million or managing
the reservations department of a North America-based outbound tour
operator where the candidate supervises a staff of 10 or more.
Education
A degree from a top tier Canadian or U.S. university is preferred.
Specific Knowledge & Technical
Skills
Strong knowledge of world history, geography and current affairs. Expert
knowledge of East Asian history a major asset. Experienced user of
Galileo or Sabre system.
Communication Skills and Telephone Manners
Effective communication skills are essential. Superior telephone manners
and passion for outstanding
customer service are mandatory.
Other Languages
Ability to speak, read and write a major East Asian or European language
definitely an asset. We prefer Chinese, Spanish, French and German, in
that order.
Computer Applications
Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook,
PowerPoint).
Keyboarding (Words Per Minute)
Minimum 50 wpm

Reporting to our Beijing office manager, the
position requires frequent travel between Beijing and Vancouver. A
Canadian or US citizen/permanent resident, the candidate must be fluent
in both English and Mandarin Chinese with relevant managerial experience
of at least 5 years. Contract negotiations and tour conducting are also
important aspects of this position. Relocation and hardship allowances
are available if applicable.
Required Qualities & Qualifications
1) Proven leadership

3) Bachelor or master's degree from a reputable
